I Love to Make... These Two Smile!!

This is me and my two munchkins.  Taken in October at the Pumpkin Patch.  That may explain the goat behind us.  :D  These two are my pride and joy.  I love them so much.  I absolutely love to see a smile on their faces.

I Love to Make... Baby Caps!

I really want to start a project for needy people.  I have been tossing around ideas of what to do, and where to send it.  My inspiration came from a lady who posted on a Yahoo! group, needing scrap fabric to make stuff for an overseas project.  So, I thought, I can so do this.  I am not that great at sewing, but the stuff I do so stays together, and it would be more than what some people have.  I know there are so many people here that needs stuff. And I have a ton of tshirts that I don't want or need.  What can you do with a tshirt?  Here is just one sample.  Baby Caps...
You will need.
scissors
sewing machine
old tshirt
That's it.
OK!!! These are super simple to make.  Trust me, if I can do it, ANYONE can.
First- I traced around one of my baby girls hats...
And used a ruler to measure and draw out the flap piece.

Then I cut out my new pattern, and used it to cut out my fabric pieces.  On these, they are made from my husbands shirt sleeves.  (He cuts all of them out.  Redneck? Yes!)

Ok, so now you have two cap pieces and one flap piece.  Now its time to start sewing.
Sew the cap right sides together.

And sew your flap piece right sides together on the 5 inch side.  Now take the flap piece and fold it inside itself with the raw edges on the inside.

Now my computer is trying to play head games with me.... GRRR!!! Doesn't want to upload anymore photos for some reason.
Ok! Got that fixed.
Now, like I said.  Fold your flap piece inside itself to look like the photo below.

Stick that piece inside the cap piece, with the raw edges together, and pin it in place.

Sew around it, if you have a serger, it will look a lot nicer, but I don't, and mine look ok.

Now turn up the flap, and done!

Sorry if I'm horrible at giving directions, I'll try harder next time.  Promise.

Why A Blog?

Ok, so I love anything crafty.  Always looking for new things to make, or recreate.  Especially upcycling projects.  My range of things I like to do is all over the place.  I can't just focus on one area.  There should be a support group.  Crafters Anonymous.  With a 12 step program.  Hopefully, I can get some of my energy focused on this blog, and get up a few tutorials. Like the candy bouquet we made for the hubby for Valentine's Day, or the chalk board turned to bow holder, or my dry erase board doomed for the trash, rescued, and now a memo board.  Oh and I just made a pillowcase dress for a sweet baby girl.  You see, all over the place!  Tutorials coming soon.
